The man that sits opposite me doesn't look like the average MC or even a Hip-hop fan for that matter. “Maybe that's a good thing, I'd like my appearance to slip under the radar and let music do the talking”.

His responses are sharp and with intent. You can tell that as I sit here trying to weigh him up he is doing exactly the same to me. By no means is Jalporte intimidating, he stands 5ft 10 inch and his frame is lean but not bulky. “I dig my baggy clothes so I look like I weigh 18stone but I'm only small light really”.

What makes me pause and think that this one might be able to get somewhere is in his stare. It's in the tone of his voice too; it's almost ruthless and almost vicious. The look is one that some much better talented MC's don't have. “Bottom line, there must be thousands of other MC's who are better then me. But where they will fail and I will succeed is they are not willing to go to the lengths I will go through to get what I want”. It's a very true statement. I've finally managed to pin down the look in his eyes. Its not rage, or anger or even aggression. Its desire. Desire to be the best, not necessarily the best in the world or even his city. But to be the best Jalporte the man, the MC jalporte can be. He's happy to fall short as long as the desire to try was satisfied. How far will that desire take him……..?
